Basketball is very popular as a casual way to exercise and as a competitive team sport played on the basketball court. It is a fast-action game with lots of running and jumping and provides a good physical workout on the basketball court. You can go out and shoot baskets by yourself over basketball hoop or get involved in competition games. Informally, players may play three-on-three, two-on-two, and one-on-one.

Players advance the ball by bouncing it while walking or running (dribbling) or by passing it to a teammate, both of which require considerable skill. On offense, players may use a variety of shots—the lay-up, the jump shot, or a dunk; on defense, they may steal the ball from a dribbler, intercept passes, or block shots; either offense or defense may collect a rebound, that is, a missed shot that bounces from rim or backboard.

Basketball is a dynamic sport that builds stamina from the short sprints required of running up and down the length of the court. Movements distinct to basketball, such as jumping to take a shot or to grab a rebound, require frequent muscle contractions, which can build muscular endurance. Additional weight training is recommended for basketball players in order to improve their performance on the basketball court. The basketball legends and NBL has caught the attention of the Indian youth.
